The committee for the Coach Baker Fund is pleased to announce the tenth annual weekend of events. This year’s events will take place on June 17 at the Hoosick Falls Country Club and Hoosick Falls Central School District in Hoosick Falls, NY. The annual weekend of organized events includes a golf and basketball tournament. Please note there will be no formal Friday night dinner or auction sponsored by the committee this year.
The weekend was established in memory of the late coach Ken Baker of Hoosick Falls and Cambridge who passed away in 2008. For the past decade, a committee of friends and family have come together to organize a packed weekend in order to raise funds. These funds go toward scholarships of deserving students from both the Cambridge and Hoosick Falls school districts, as well as programs in both communities to focus on health, civic responsibility and leadership. Last year the committee gave out one, $2,000 scholarship to a deserving student in each school district.
On Saturday, June 17, registration for the 3-on-3-basketball tournament will begin at 8 a.m., with games beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Hoosick Falls Central School. To sign up for the basketball tournament, please contact Andy Nolan at (518) 361-5756 or go to the fund's website. This year the basketball tournament is free to all participants. The two tee times for the golf tournament are 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Hoosick Falls Country Club. To create a team and enter the golf tournament, please contact Mike Baratto at email@example.com. At 12:30 p.m., in between the morning and afternoon golf flights, the 2017 scholarship finalists from each school will be announced. Additionally, a chicken barbecue lunch provided by DJ Herrington will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Country Club. The lunch costs $12 per person, but is included in the golf registration fee.
