The committee for the Coach Baker Fund is pleased to announce this year’s date for the eighth annual auction, Golf Scramble and basketball tournament.  This year’s weekend will be June 12-13 at the historic Hoosick Falls Country Club in Hoosick Falls, NY.

The annual weekend of organized events includes a golf tournament, a basketball tournament, and an auction which was established in memory of the legendary Coach Ken Baker of Hoosick Falls and Cambridge who passed away in 2008.  For the past 7 years a committee of friends and family has organized the weekend to raise donations for the fund which awards scholarships to deserving students from both the Cambridge and Hoosick Falls school districts, as well as deserving programs in both communities.  This year the committee gave out two, $2,000 scholarships to deserving students in both school districts.

Beginning with the Ken Baker Golf Scramble, the weekend has grown by adding a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, a lunch, a cocktail hour, a sit-down dinner, and a live auction at night.  Starting on Friday night with the live auction and dinner, the Weekend continues on Saturday with two rounds of the Golf Scramble, the basketball tourney, awards ceremony and lunch.  The Weekend has become a reunion of family, friends, students, former athletes and recipients of the prestigious Coach Baker scholarship.  With the funds raised by this weekend The Coach Baker Fund continues with its mission to financial support students and healthy communities.

“This has become such a popular weekend for the communities and people have given so generously, that we were able to raise the amount that we can give out in our scholarship gifts this year to deserving students.  This is a fun weekend, with family and friends and because of the financial gifts of many, we have also been fortunate enough to give out more to the communities – I think Ken would be overjoyed.” Committee Chair, and former student of Ken Baker, Bruce Buckbee stated.
